What to expect

When you go somewhere new, it’s more reassuring if you know what to expect. Here is a general guide to the different aspects of our services and what things we place special emphasis on.

Parking

Although the regular cost for parking at the NOVOTEL is £14 (displayed on the hotel board), if you are attending our church service it will be reduced to only £3 per stay. As a welcome gesture, we will also give you a free parking voucher for the first few weeks you are with us.

Welcome tea & coffee

Tea and Coffee is available free of charge before the meeting from 10:30am onwards.

This is a chance for you to pick up information about our church from the welcome desk, to find out where toilets are located, learn about the crèche and Sunday school, or just to have a chat with those who regularly attend.

Worship & ministry

We start most of our meetings singing songs of praise to God in a relaxed, informal style with contemporary worship for everyone to engage in together. We allow opportunity for reflection too and often invite people for prayer. Prayer will be handled discreetly and treated in the strictest confidence. We believe in the power of prayer and we want to give everyone the opportunity to be prayed for if they have any needs.

After about 20-25 minutes the children will leave for their respective Sunday school classes and the main sermon will be delivered to the adults.

Preaching & teaching

The main talk will always be about an aspect of God or Christian living based on the Bible.  We normally allow about 30 minutes for this part of the service.

Sunday school

During the main talk, we have Sunday School running at the same time.  All our teachers have full child protection training and disclosure.  We respectively request that parents supervise their children at all times and take responsibility for their whereabouts when not in the Sunday School sessions.

Youth on Sundays

Our youth (10+) spend time together on Sunday mornings during ‘table talk’ sessions. They can play games, talk about life, and share Jesus. Plus, we enjoy a soft drink from the bar!

Additionally, in partnership with two other local churches, we run Elevate Youth on Friday evenings.

Crèche

Families with babies and toddlers are more than welcome to stay in the main hall throughout the whole service. However, if little ones do get restless or upset, we have crèche facilities where the service will be shown live via a large TV screen.

At least one parent will need to stay with their child if they are using the creche facilities as it is unsupervised at the current time. Tea and Coffee will be available in the creche room, so please help yourself.

Invitation to become a Christian

We will regularly give people the opportunity to become a Christian.  This will consist of a short explanation of what it means to be a Christian and how to become one.  Of course, we recognise that is only the first step and we would want to chat to you further about how you can continue in your Christian journey.  Becoming a Christian means becoming a disciple of Jesus and that means learning the teachings of the bible and walking with other believers.
