Get ‘Grounded’
‘Grounded’ is an initiative which aims that students:
- Get mentored
- Serve practically
- Get trained in a skill
How does this work at Elim?
We love to see students committing to our church and getting really stuck in. We think its really important for students to be grounded within a supportive environment and therefore suggest three ways that they can do this: mentoring, skill development and serving.
We believe that serving in the church is a great way to settle in, get to know people and give to God. We know that some students are busy bees whilst others have loads of free time, therefore there are many ways to get involved. From arriving slightly early on Sunday to welcome people to joining the band and helping lead the children’s work. There are plenty more ways to offer your services.
We recognise that students are a talented bunch, yet God has put so much more in you than studying for a degree. Each year we meet new students who have gifts in preaching and worship leading, or maybe in prayer ministry or prophecy,. We therefore offer many different courses which help equip students and enable them to develop these gifts.
Finally, we have same-sex group ‘huddles’ and offer one-to-one meet ups too, if that’s more your thing. We have found from experience that students find these encouraging, a chance to meet with other students and also get wisdom from someone further on in the journey.
