As many of you will be aware The Gathering (which currently takes place at Elim Corner) will be moving into St Lawrence’s Primary School from Sunday 5th September. The Teaching Service (which currently meets in St Lawrence’s Primary School) will be moving to Arch Bishop Holgate School (YO10 5ZA) on the Sunday 5th September. The change of locations are effectively permanent.
That means there is only 1 Sunday left before the big move. These are really exciting developments which we expect both expressions of church will benefit from as well as offering better facilities to those seeking a church.

Dear All,
On Sunday 31 Jan the morning service won’t be held at St Lawrence’s Primary School. Instead, it will be held at The National Centre for Early Music: St Margaret’s Church, Off Walmgate, YORK, YO1 9TL. We will start and finish at the usual times. This is just for one week and the following week 7 Feb the Teaching service will be back at the school and The Gathering will be back at Elim Corner.

York Elim is recruiting a new part-time Youth Worker.
We are looking for a person who cares about the young people in our community and in our church. Someone with a lively faith in Jesus Christ and a sense of enjoying doing the work God has called them into.
The new youth worker will be starting their ministry among us at an exciting time. Over the past ten years, our church has experienced transformation from a small city centre congregation, to a vibrant centre of teaching and worship, serving all ages and about 20 nationalities, including a large number of uni students.
We have recently acquired a suite of offices and meeting rooms close to the city centre, these form a base for midweek activities including youth work.
Closing date for applications is Thursday 30th April 2009.
Download Job description for more information on the post and how to apply.
This one is for the men - we have our men’s meeting, Yorkie, on Sunday 22nd March at 5.30pm at Elim Corner.
5.30pm Prepare Elim Corner for building work on Monday by moving some boxes and things around - we need quite a few hands for this so please do come and help!
6.30pm Ark Church joins us to order food: Pizza? Chinese? Indian?
Then we’ll watch the 2nd video by Si Rogers - brilliant speaker on issues of interest to us all - whilst the food is made and delivered. Then when the food arrives we can eat, chat, watch the rest of the video, etc!
We’ll also decide what we want to do next time (come with your ideas!!) and whether we want to make this monthly rather than bi-monthly.
See you at 5.30pm on Sunday!

We celebrated Jesus’ birth on Sunday morning. Everyone arrived in their Christmas attire, there was even someone dressed as a Christmas present! The morning started with a few Christmas carols followed by the debut performance of the recently established York Elim Choir (pictured). They were very well received. Our youth treated us to two dramas, both of which reminded us of the real meaning of Christmas. One of the performances was entitled “The X-mas Factor”. Then we had some more carols followed by a performance from the smaller children. The children opened presents which had significant christian symbols inside, they were then asked to describe what these were and why they were important. As might be expected with children, there was much hilarity at some of their responses and behaviour.
It was great to be joined by Gordon Neil, the regional superintendent for Elim. After Gordon’s reading and Graham’s preach all the men were invited on stage to sing “We Three Kings”. It is surprising that the stage didn’t collapse as almost every man in the congregation piled on. The morning was concluded with Graham throwing Quality Streets into the congregation. We celebrated Jesus’ birth this morning! It was a fun morning, it was a blessed morning.
Graham quoted from a letter he received during the week calling Christians to support their brothers and sisters in Mosul, Iraq. As promised, the document is available here for those who would like to see a copy.

We’re very pleased at how well Tuesday’s Alpha at the Biltmore went. The Biltmore is a beautiful restaurant, suave and sophisticated but enough about me, the Biltmore is a pretty special place. Altogether there were 15 of us, we were served our complimentary food and drink and enjoyed a little dinner party for about 40 minutes. Then Graham, the senior pastor gave his powerful testimony of how Jesus transformed his life. It was a great night. The coming weeks should be splendid.
